The team sports department at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women<\/a><\/span> – University of Baghdad<\/a><\/span> is considered one of the vital branches aimed at developing both the collective and individual skills of students in various team sports. This department focuses on teaching strategies for collective play, organization, and sports tactics that contribute to building strong and cohesive sports teams. Through an integrated curriculum, the department seeks to enhance cooperation and team spirit, in addition to improving physical and skill performance. Moreover, it encourages students to participate in research activities to develop a deeper understanding of theories and applications in the field of team sports. This department significantly contributes to preparing outstanding sports competencies that contribute to raising the level of women’s sports.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\nThe Team Sports Department is one of the branches of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women. The department consists of\u00a026 specialized faculty members<\/strong>\u00a0who teach both the theoretical and practical aspects of team sports, including\u00a0handball, basketball, volleyball, and futsal<\/strong>. The faculty members are responsible for teaching and training students in the technical and tactical aspects of team sports, as well as explaining, interpreting, and applying the rules of these games.<\/span><\/p>\n

Practical Courses in the Team Sports Department<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe practical courses taught across the four academic stages are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n

First Stage<\/strong>: Basketball and Futsal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Second Stage<\/strong>: Basketball, Handball, and Volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n

Third Stage<\/strong>: Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, and Futsal.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fourth Stage<\/strong>: Handball and Volleyball.<\/span><\/p>\n

Vision<\/strong><\/span>
\nTo achieve excellence and innovation in utilizing various sciences to serve the practical aspects of team sports.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mission<\/strong><\/span>
\nTo dedicate the efforts of the faculty members to improving students’ performance in practical lessons, both theoretically and practically.<\/span><\/p>\n

Objectives<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

1- To prepare physical education and sports science teachers, coaches, and referees who possess comprehensive knowledge and practical skills related to team sports.<\/span><\/p>\n

2- To employ scientific methods in learning, teaching, and training.<\/span><\/p>\n

3- To adopt the latest scientific and legal information for each sport, in line with the most recent updates and amendments to the rules, and to continuously integrate new developments that contribute to enhancing the theoretical and practical aspects of team sports education.<\/span><\/p>\n

4- To provide a high-quality educational, psychological, and pedagogical environment for team sports courses by keeping up with advancements in modern educational and training curricula that utilize the latest technologies.<\/span><\/p>\n

5- To organize workshops, training courses, and seminars on the latest developments in sports rules and regulations, in collaboration with the central federation of each sport.<\/span><\/p>\n

Among other tasks of the Team Games branch, it seeks to achieve the following:<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/div>\n

\u00a0A \/ National Development:<\/span><\/h3>\n

1- Instilling the spirit of good citizenship in the student through good treatment and respect for others, developing honesty and preserving the environment.<\/span><\/h4>\n

2- Activating the role of the student in educating the family as a leader by working to instill love for the homeland and belonging and work for its upliftment and renaissance.<\/span><\/h4>\n

3- Educating the students and informing about the rights and duties of individuals in society according to the constitution and the role of laws in establishing stability in society and the need to abide by them .<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a04- Educating the students about the current public issues that the community suffers from and motivates them to participate in community activities and interact with them .<\/span><\/h4>\n

5 – Providing the student with a positive and realistic understanding of the political system of society and the need to participate in political decisions affecting the course of there lifes in there current environment.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a0 B \/ cognitive development:<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a01 – Making the student the main axis and the main target of the educational process by drawing achievable educational methodological goals to ensure easy and fast learning for all students and at all levels of study .<\/span><\/h4>\n

2 – Providing all the requirements, tools and modern educational means to make it easy for student’s to access various cognitive skills during the theoretical lessons of the practical subject.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a03 – Exploiting all available capabilities and alternatives to confront any thorny situation or obstructing the course of the educational process, and trying to contain these situations and overcome them successfully .<\/span><\/h4>\n

4 – Developing the ability to think critically and solve problems by developing the student’s perceptions of educational concepts and intellectual foundations and their social applications .<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a05 – Motivating the student to actively participate in practical lessons through guidance, facilitation, encouragement, and the use of all modern strategies that focus on increasing the student’s effectiveness with practical lessons .<\/span><\/h4>\n

C \/ social development:<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a01 – Building the personality of the students and forming them in all aspects, personal, physical and psychological, and achieving a balance between all these qualities .<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a02 – Helping the student to adapt in society through them acquisition of different skills, knowledge and attitudes that are appropriate to there environment and society .<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a03 – Instilling the spirit of cooperative voluntary work among the students and spreading awareness of its positive impact on the development of the college and society.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a04 – Training the students on good behaviour, independence and sound rules of life .<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a05 – Increasing the students self-confidence and developing high morale in facing life’s requirements and difficulties .<\/span><\/h4>\n

Obstacles and challenges faced by the branch :<\/span><\/h3>\n

\u00a01 – Weak openness to competing colleges to gain experience, poor communication and openness to arab and international universities<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a02 – Poor capabilities in providing halls and stadiums for team games<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a03 – The lack of financial allocations negatively affected the assignment of professors to prepare textbooks.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a04 – Weak openness to the labor market and updating curricula according to needs.<\/span><\/h4>\n

\u00a05 – Weak participation of the private sector and the labor market .<\/span><\/h4>\n
