A teacher at the Individual Games Branch in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Lamia Abdel Sattar, held a training course for undergraduate students entitled (Sports Injuries and Sports Rehabilitation).<\/span><\/h4>\n

Dr. Lamia explained the concept of sports injuries as injuries that occur to a person or player while practicing sports activity. Injuries include bones, muscles and joints, and include different types such as bruises, wounds, head injuries and fractures. The results of the injury are not limited to pain, but may lead to permanent disability that may end the future of the athlete, referring to its reasons represented by not practicing a good and necessary warm-up before exercise, using inappropriate sports equipment, using the wrong technique in the exercise, exposure to an accident such as receiving a blow to the head or knee, using a muscle or organ in a way that exceeds its endurance, and this happens to professionals because their exercises are intense and powerful.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The severity of the injury was classified into four levels, the first level: muscular injuries that are not accompanied by any rupture and cause slight pain, the second level is muscular injuries that are accompanied by a slight rupture and are painful when touched and do not affect movement, the third level: light muscle ruptures that affect movement and the appearance of bruises note, the fourth level: severe muscle lacerations that cause joint dislocation and severe pain, and this type of injury requires surgical intervention.<\/span><\/h4>\n

And she emphasized the most important steps to be followed in the treatment of light sports injuries among players, which include rest, ice, pressure, and lifting, noting at the same time the most important preventive methods to avoid the occurrence of sports injuries represented by warm-up, stretching exercises, equipment and sports shoes that are good and suitable for each event, the use of good training methods and means, gradually increasing training loads.<\/span><\/h4>\n
