The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls at the University of Baghdad witnessed a discussion of the Master’s thesis entitled (The Effect of Rehabilitation Exercises and Shock Waves on Improving Strength and Range of Motion of the Wrist Joint in Patients with De Quervain’s Syndrome) by the student (Basma Khalid Hassan) under the supervision of Prof. Dr Suad Abdul Hussein from the Department of Theoretical Sciences.<\/span><\/p>\n

The study aimed to prepare rehabilitation exercises to improve strength, range of motion and reducing pain in individuals with De Quervain’s syndrome. It also sought to understand the effects of these rehabilitation exercises and shockwave therapy on enhancing strength and alleviating pain in individuals with De Quervain’s syndrome, as well as improving the range of motion for the wrist and thumb joints affected by De Quervain’s syndrome.<\/span><\/p>\n

The student concluded that the comparison of the two groups in the research variables showed that the rehabilitation approach that was prepared had a positive impact on the variable of grip strength, force sensor, lateral pinch position, and range of motion for lateral pinch angle and thumb angle, as well as the pain level in the lateral pinch position when compared to the control group.<\/span><\/p>\n

The researcher also recommended promoting awareness and educating the patient about their condition. Patients should follow guidelines and advice through pamphlets that provide them with the necessary guidance. Emphasis should be placed on physical rehabilitation, especially using modern devices, and implementing rehabilitation in the physical education colleges to work alongside therapists and medical staff in hospitals and medical rehabilitation centres. There should be further research and studies using shock waves on other injuries to delve into the specifics of each injury and develop specialized rehabilitation curricula.<\/span><\/p>\n

After discussing the student’s thesis, the committee recommended granting her a master’s degree in Physical Education.<\/span><\/p>\n
