A lecturer in the team sports branch at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nada Muhammad Amin, held a scientific symposium for undergraduate students entitled (Basketball for All, Skills, Law, Applications). The symposium focused on the origins and history of basketball, its skills, and its arbitration mechanism, violations and fouls in basketball. Dr. Nada Muhammad showed the history of basketball and its inception in 1891 by Canadian coach James Naismit, who described it as one of the activities less prone to injuries, and its skills are characterized by speed and agility.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She pointed out her skills are divided into offensive and defensive, and the offensive skills are represented by holding and receiving the ball, passing with the ball, handling, tackling, shooting, offensive follow-up, and blocking, while the defensive ones include the defensive stance, the movement of the defending player, defending against tackling, defending against types of tackling, and defending against types of scoring, follow-up defensive.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She also explained the mechanism for forming a team, as the team\u2019s players are (12) players, each team has (5) players on the field, and (7) reserves.<\/span><\/h4>\n
