\u00a0<\/strong>The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, gave a scientific lecture entitled (Mechanism for the Advancement of Women\u2019s Sports), hosted by a delegation from the Department of Studies and Development of Young Personnel and Leaders\/Department of the National Observatory for Sports. The lecture was moderated by the Director of the Observatory, Professor Amjad Hamad. Al-Jashami.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Dean of the College, Dr. Fatima, reviewed the stages of development of the beginnings of establishing women\u2019s sports activities starting from the year (1953 until 1992), and its beginnings were under the patronage of King Faisal II, based on the desire of his daughter, Rajha, to establish the first headquarters that brought together women to practice sports, cultural, and social activities on a par with males, as well as the establishment thereafter Al-Shabab Club, which held the first women\u2019s tournament in Iraq, and then Iraqi girls\u2019 clubs were established.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She also showed that the most important factors that encouraged the establishment of sports clubs are the availability of women with specialized academic degrees in the sports field, the possession of a belief in the value and importance of sports work, the availability of the ability to plan, and familiarity with the methods of organizing tournaments.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She stressed that one of the most important requirements for the advancement of Iraqi women’s sports is the presence of a talented player, an efficient coach, high-level planning, advanced capabilities and equipment, and special care.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The lecture concluded with a number of recommendations, the most important of which are building headquarters, stadiums and arenas for women\u2019s sports and making them sports, cultural and social clubs, spreading sports awareness among society, assisting sports bodies concerned with women\u2019s sports affairs, and legislating the health, social and employment security law for women athletes.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This lecture achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal: quality education, and the seventeenth goal: establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.<\/span><\/h4>\n
