The rapporteur of the theoretical sciences branch at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Lect. Dr. Sura Ahmed Saleh, held an awareness seminar entitled (Drug prevention in Iraqi society) for teachers, staff, and students of the Kurdish Language Department at Ibn Rushd College, University of Baghdad.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Dr. Sura showed the seriousness of drug abuse among young people, as it is a scourge that threatens the human and material resources of the state and contributes to the emergence and spread of other deviant phenomena that deviate from the behavioral rules and moral standards approved by society, whether this approval is from the legal, religious, or cultural side.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She pointed to the reasons for university youth\u2019s drug abuse, including social reasons represented by parents\u2019 preoccupation with their children, excessive cruelty to children, loss or absence of a parent, family economic resources, many family problems, bad friends, in addition to cultural and educational reasons such as free time, work conditions, in addition to the economic reasons represented by unemployment.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She explained the ways in which drug users are identified, the most important of which are introversion and unusual isolation from others, neglect and lack of interest in appearance, constant laziness and constant yawning, paleness in the face and tremors in the extremities, loss of appetite, extreme agitation for the slightest reason that contradicts the person\u2019s usual nature, and apparent neglect. In personal matters, neglecting sports or cultural hobbies, resorting to lying and deception to get more money.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The Rapporteur of the Theoretical Sciences Branch emphasized the most important methods used in treating drug users in the university environment, represented by the role of the family, the university, and the media.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This symposium achieves one of the goals of sustainable development, represented by the fourth goal: quality education, and the seventeenth goal: establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.<\/span><\/h4>\n
