The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, held a scientific workshop entitled (Using English in Sports Terminology and Sports Law), presented by English language lecturers in the Theoretical Sciences Branch, Asst. Lect. Nabal Ahmed, Asst. Lect. Inaam Ghaleb and Asst. Lect. Noor Riyadh.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The lecturers explained the importance of the English language and its role in unifying terminology and laws at the international level, as the use of the language has become common and necessary to ensure communication and mutual understanding among all participants in the sports field, explaining how the language of sports is considered global because it is considered due to historical factors, organizational control and unification of terminology, noting at the same time the role of these terms in effective communication through referees, tournaments, and training.<\/span><\/h4>\n

They also mentioned the impact of sports laws written in English within a unified legal framework, ensuring fair play and resolving disputes.<\/span><\/h4>\n

They reviewed the most important English applications in team games, such as handball, basketball, volleyball, and football.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is that English is the cornerstone for ensuring unification and mutual understanding in sports worldwide, contributing to strengthening unity and developing communication in international sporting events, and encouraging the inclusion of materials and training in English for athletes to enhance their competitiveness at the global level. This workshop achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal, quality education.<\/span><\/h4>\n
