The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls\/University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, along with a group of faculty members, conducted a refereeing training course in fencing with penalties. The course was organized by the college’s Continuing Education Unit and held in the fencing hall.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The training focused on four key areas covering several important aspects.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The first, presented by Dr. Fatima, covered topics related to the types of weapons used in fencing, mechanisms for determining valid target areas according to each weapon type, player positioning on the field, and the main referee\u2019s responsibilities.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The second, led by Prof. Dr. Noor Hatem, explained weight measurement and filler techniques, the assistant referee\u2019s duties, and procedures for appealing refereeing decisions.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The third, presented by Assistant Prof. Dr. Ishraq Ghalib, provided an in-depth explanation of touch cancellation mechanisms (1-2-3), the latest updates in fencing rules, and how to handle cases requiring match suspension.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The fourth, delivered by Assist. Lect. Rasha Salem covered passive play, potential injuries during fencing, and time management during matches.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This course aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4, Quality Education, as it contributes to enhancing refereeing skills and advancing academic development in sports.<\/span><\/h4>\n
