The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, organized a refereeing training course in futsal. Faculty members from the Department of Team Games, Lect. Dr. Mais Mahmoud and Asst. Lect. Maryam Abdul-Jabbar presented the course, with the participation of games coach Mr. Mustafa Adel.<\/span><\/h4>\n

During the course, the instructors explained that futsal is a modified form of traditional football, played indoors on a hard court smaller than a standard football pitch. The game is characterized by its fast pace and distinct technical style, with each team consisting of five players, including a goalkeeper.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The sessions emphasized the fundamental aspects of teaching and training in futsal, which encompass technical skills, physical fitness, mental preparation, tactical awareness, and psychological factors. The training methodology highlighted the importance of competitive exercises over traditional drills. Each session included a warm-up, followed by multiple training stations on small pitches, with each station lasting approximately 20 minutes, alternating between activity and rest.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The focus during drills was placed on players\u2019 ball-passing skills, with corrections and feedback provided during rest periods. The main team was divided into six players and the secondary team into four players, with the option of adding auxiliary players on the flanks to simulate match scenarios. Tactical games, such as 4\u00d74 matches, were conducted using different formations (3-1, 2-2, and 1-2-1). The head coach guided the main team, emphasizing technical points, while the assistant coach managed the secondary team, ensuring alignment with the training objectives.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The course also stressed the importance of careful planning for both short-term and long-term training programs.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This workshop is part of the college\u2019s ongoing efforts to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations\u2019 Sustainable Development Goal 4, which focuses on ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education.<\/span><\/h4>\n
