The Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad, under the patronage of its Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, and the supervision of Asst. Lect. Diana Ghanem hosted the Women’s Affairs Officer at the Rusafa District Electoral Machine, Ms. Ilham Saleh Al-Maliki, to hold a scientific symposium titled (Elections: The Gateway to Reform: Participate Consciously).<\/span><\/h4>\n

Ms. Al-Maliki explained that elections constitute a fundamental mechanism in democratic systems, allowing citizens to participate in political decision-making and elect their representatives. She pointed out that electoral reform includes improving electoral systems to ensure the optimal expression of voters’ desires in election results.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She emphasized that the essence of electoral participation lies in how voters feel their voice impacts the electoral process. The stronger the voice, the more democratic the country is, whether parliamentary or municipal.<\/span><\/h4>\n

She also highlighted the importance of elections for the individual in the context of political participation, representation, accountability, and equality, while also emphasizing their importance to society through democracy, stability, development, and community building.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Ms. Al-Maliki called on all citizens to participate in the parliamentary elections scheduled for November 11, 2025.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Prof. Dr. Suhad Hassib, Assistant Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, honored Ms. Ilham Al-Maliki with a letter of thanks for organizing such an awareness-raising seminar encouraging citizens to participate in elections.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This seminar is part of efforts to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 17, which relates to building partnerships for shared goals.<\/span><\/h4>\n
