The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad witnessed the examination of a PhD dissertation entitled (The Effect of Exercises and the Use of a Designed Device for Walking on Warm Sand in the Rehabilitation of Children with Mild Spastic Cerebral Palsy and Some Motor Abilities (Ages 6\u20138 Years)), presented by (Saja Basim Hashim).<\/span><\/h4>\n

The examination committee was chaired by Prof. Dr. Suhad Haseeb Abdul Hameed, University of Baghdad with the membership of Prof. Dr. Hassan Hadi Atiya, Al-Mustansiriyah University, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Ismail Salim Abdul, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ali Miseer Yaseen, Asst. Prof. Dr. Israa Jameel Hussein was supervised by Prof. Dr. Suad Abdul Hussein Waheeb.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The research aimed to design a device for walking on warm sand to rehabilitate children with mild spastic cerebral palsy and to develop certain motor abilities in children aged 6\u20138 years. It also sought to prepare exercises using this device for rehabilitation, and to investigate the effect of these exercises on improving motor abilities, electromyography (EMG) variables, and balance tests (Berg Test) among the target age group.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The researcher concluded that the rehabilitative exercises performed on warm sand using the designed parallel bars device improved flexibility tests among the research sample. The effectiveness of the rehabilitative exercises using the parallel bars on warm sand also had a positive impact on improving electromyography (EMG) results of the leg muscles in the sample. Furthermore, the Berg balance tests proved to be among the most important indicators reflecting the improvement in the participants\u2019 condition.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The study recommended holding training courses for practitioners in this field to benefit from certain biomechanical principles of walking in individuals with cerebral palsy, incorporating innovative games that match children\u2019s current capabilities due to their positive effect on those with cerebral palsy, increasing the number of specialized centers for motor disabilities, and relying on previous research in this specialization, which has shown positive outcomes through practical experiences.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This study contributes to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4: Quality Education.<\/span><\/h4>\n
