Under the patronage of the Dean of the College, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, and the supervision of Asst. Lect. Safia Ihsan Kamil, Head of the Unit, the Career Development and Employment Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women \u2013 University of Baghdad, hosted Ms. Soha Rashid Alawi, Advisor at the Labor Migration Resource Center, Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, for a discussion session titled (Regular Migration, Risks of Irregular Migration, and Support for Returning Migrants).<\/span>
\nThe session aimed to raise awareness about regular migration procedures, the risks associated with irregular migration, and to clarify the differences between migrants and refugees. It also warned against dealing with illegal migrant smuggling networks and human trafficking gangs, while emphasizing the importance of supporting returnees from abroad psychologically, economically, and socially, and helping them reintegrate into Iraqi society.<\/span>
\nAdditionally, the session encouraged job seekers to build their capacities and improve their skills through vocational training centers or self-development programs.<\/span>
\nThe event concluded with several key recommendations, including:<\/span>
\nContinuing cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs \/ Department of Labor and Vocational Training \u2013 Labor Migration Resource Center and the University of Baghdad in holding similar sessions regularly. Designing awareness posters highlighting the dangers and consequences of irregular migration. Scheduling future sessions in alignment with students\u2019 class times to maximize attendance and engagement.<\/span>
\nAt the end of the session, the Dean of the College presented a letter of appreciation to Ms. Soha, representing the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, in recognition of their efforts in organizing such an informative and purposeful awareness session that serves Iraqi youth and encourages them to avoid illegal migration.<\/span>
\nThis session contributes to achieving two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 4, Quality Education, and Goal 17, Partnerships for the Goals.<\/span><\/h4>\n
