As part of the anti-corruption strategies, the Scientific Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Follow-up Division at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, and under the patronage of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, and the supervision of Asst. Lect. Diana Ghanem hosted a delegation from the National Security Agency to present an awareness symposium entitled (The Phenomenon of Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism).<\/span><\/h4>\n

The symposium aimed to highlight the strategies that should be applied within society to reduce violence and to identify the types and causes of violence, including social, psychological, and economic factors.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Several key topics were addressed during the event, such as the concept of violent extremism, its connection to terrorism, the impact of social media platforms in promoting extremist ideologies, and the role of individuals and institutions in combating this phenomenon.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The symposium also concluded with several important recommendations, including the incorporation of concepts of tolerance and moderation into educational curricula. It urged media outlets and cultural organizations to promote the values of social peace rather than focusing solely on security aspects.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This activity comes as part of ongoing academic and educational efforts to raise awareness among students and researchers about the dangers of violent extremism, which remains one of the significant challenges facing Iraqi society.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The symposium supports two Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Goal 4 \u2013 Quality Education, and Goal 16 \u2013 Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.<\/span><\/h4>\n
