The Rehabilitation and Employment Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, hosted \u2014 under the patronage of the Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, and the supervision of Asst. Lect. Safia Ihsan Kamel \u2014 a delegation from UNICEF and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to hold a scientific workshop entitled (Empowering University Students in Designing and Implementing Small Youth Initiatives Within the University).<\/span><\/h4>\n

The workshop began with an introduction to the concept of peer education, which aims to empower a group of individuals (often from the same age group or social or educational background) to become \u201cpeer educators\u201d capable of conveying knowledge, skills, and positive values to their peers in an interactive and impactful manner.<\/span><\/h4>\n

It also addressed the second goal of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), titled \u201cZero Hunger\u201d, which focuses on achieving food security, improving nutrition, and promoting sustainable agriculture \u2014 one of the 17 SDGs that holds great humanitarian, economic, and environmental importance.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The workshop included several practical sessions presented by young facilitators, with the participation of the college\u2019s students, during which each participant discussed a specific sub-theme related to the goal.<\/span><\/h4>\n

During the workshop, emphasis was placed on the platforms Learning Passport and U-Report, with participants trained on the registration process. They were divided into groups to prepare and conduct short interactive sessions in front of their colleagues, receive feedback, and improve their performance. The training also featured group exercises, interactive activities, role-playing, simulation of real-life situations, short presentations, open discussions, and experience sharing.<\/span><\/h4>\n

At the conclusion of the workshop, participants were introduced to the electronic form for funded youth initiatives and encouraged to use it to develop their ideas and future projects.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This workshop supports two Sustainable Development Goals: Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).<\/span><\/h4>\n
