The Scientific Affairs Unit, in cooperation with the Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, and under the patronage of Dean Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, hosted a scientific workshop titled )Women in Historical Baghdad: Their Role and Status( The event brought together a group of academics and researchers interested in historical studies and women\u2019s issues.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The workshop included a series of lectures highlighting the prominent role of Baghdadi women across different eras, starting with the Abbasid period, which witnessed an active female presence in literature, science, and administration, and continuing into later centuries, when women continued to play influential social and economic roles.<\/span><\/h4>\n

Researchers also examined historical texts documenting the status of women in Baghdadi society, highlighting notable female figures who contributed to the city\u2019s intellectual and cultural development. They emphasized the importance of revisiting and showcasing this heritage in contemporary studies to support the image of Iraqi women and enhance their participation in public life today.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The workshop concluded with an open discussion session during which participants offered recommendations stressing the need to develop cultural and educational programs that highlight the role of women in Baghdad\u2019s history. They affirmed that understanding this role helps build a more just and inclusive social awareness.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This workshop contributes to achieving one of the Sustainable Development Goals, specifically Goal 4 (Quality Education).<\/span><\/h4>\n
