In its pursuit of developing scientific research and elevating academic performance, the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women, University of Baghdad, hosted Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Faleh Hassan, Vice President for Scientific Affairs at Al-Naji Private University. The event, held under the patronage of the Dean, Professor Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, and the supervision of the division head, Assistant Professor Dr. Sura Ahmed Saleh, featured a qualitative workshop titled “Methodologies for Determining Researcher and College Metrics in Global Databases.”<\/b><\/span><\/h4>\n

Dr. Omar presented a detailed explanation of publishing mechanisms within prominent global scientific platforms, including Google Scholar, Scopus, and Web of Science<\/b>. He highlighted methods for measuring vital research performance indicators, most notably the h-index<\/b> and citation counts<\/b>. He demonstrated that the methodologies used to calculate these metrics follow a unified system across different databases, ensuring the accuracy of assessing the scientific output of both researchers and institutions.<\/span><\/h4>\n

The presentation extended beyond theoretical aspects as the lecturer conducted a comparative analysis of scientific platforms regarding their mechanisms for displaying publishing data, research contributors, and scientific disciplines. He emphasized the pivotal role of these tools in enhancing the academic reputation of both the researcher and the college, stressing the necessity of optimizing their use to improve the educational institution\u2019s global ranking.<\/span><\/h4>\n

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Dean, Professor Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, honored Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Faleh Hassan with a letter of appreciation and gratitude, recognizing his distinguished efforts in conducting this specialized workshop and his valuable contributions to enriching the scientific and research movement at the college.<\/span><\/h4>\n

This scientific initiative is part of the college’s support for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), directly contributing to Goal 4 (Quality Education)<\/b> by developing faculty skills and strengthening effective partnerships<\/b> with other academic institutions, which positively impacts Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)<\/b>.<\/span><\/h4>\n
