Under the auspices of the Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls – University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abdel Maleh, the psychological counseling and educational guidance, media and public relations units in the college were organized in cooperation and coordination with a delegation from the Directorate of Youth and Sports Baghdad / Rusafa, each of the human development coach, Professor Mustafa Muhammad Hamoudi And his assistant, Ms. Athraa Karim Sahib, and the coordinators of the work, Ms. Maryam Tariq and Milad Fadel, gave a qualitative lecture to undergraduate students entitled (Self-Management and Skills Development).
The lecture was delivered by trainer Mustafa Mohamed, explaining the concept of self-management, which is the ability of the individual to direct his feelings, thoughts, and capabilities towards the goals he aspires to achieve, through full interaction between the four most important faculties that man possesses, which are (mind, heart, will, and conscience).
He also explained the most important self-management skills that lead to the development of skills, including goal setting, planning, strategy, setting priorities, self-awareness, emotional regulation, adaptability, and self-care. He also noted the most important characteristics of self-management, which is the ability to self-control trustworthy, aware, adaptive, initiative.
He also referred to how to analyze situations and achieve goals, through the negative internal factors that man struggles with in terms of weaknesses and threats, as well as the positive ones represented by strength and opportunities.
He added that one of the most important obstacles that impede the achievement of self-development and skills is the lack of real goals, procrastination and postponing what is required to be implemented, poor memory, arrogance, failure to take advice, accumulation of tasks, and uncertainty in a person’s abilities to achieve his goals.
At the end of the lecture, the Dean of the College, Dr. Fatima, awarded the delegation of the Directorate of Youth and Sports, Baghdad / Al-Rusafa, the shield of the College and books of thanks and appreciation of their efforts and their effective contribution in holding such seminars and educational lectures that serve the students to improve their self-skills and develop themselves in all fields, as she wished to all the youth delegation and the sport of Baghdad / Rusafa, success and more progress and giving in service to our beloved Iraq.
