The Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Aseel Jalil Katea, held a scientific symposium for undergraduate students entitled (The importance of teaching thinking).

And showed Dr. Aseel the concept of thinking is every mental activity that differs from the sense of sensory perception or exceeds the two to abstract ideas, referring to the components of the thinking process known as a complex cognitive process, knowledge of the content of the material or motor skill, personal preparations and factors, explaining the concept of his skills as those specific processes that learner practices and uses them intentionally to process the information he gets, and among those skills are the skills of problem identification, skills of evaluating the strength of existing evidence, skills of building relationships between thinking and its requirements.

She also stressed the need to teach learners and train them to practice lower and higher thinking skills to solve problems, and these skills include brainstorming, critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills, induction, and deduction.

The symposium concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the adoption of learning thinking skills for the necessity of refining skill and talent, that learning to think raises the degree of excitement and attraction for the learner, that learning thinking skills is an important requirement for the learner’s intelligence and an addition to his experience.
