The teacher at the Individual Games Branch in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ishraq Ghaleb Odeh, held a scientific symposium for undergraduate students entitled (Physiological numbers of fencers).
Dr. Ishraq explained the concept of physiological numbers of fencers as the ability to achieve and continue to perform with high physical and functional efficiency, and this is done through the safety of the vital systems of the body, due to the necessity of interconnection between the body’s motor and nervous systems by focusing on two important directions, the first: identification and focus on the most important functional variables nature of the general performance in the sport of fencing, and the second: the development of the functional variables of the body through the systems of energy production in the body (aerobic, anaerobic, phosphate, lactic, mixed).
She added that one of the most important training methods used in the numbers of physiological fencers is the physiological purposes of low-intensity interval training, the physiological purposes of high-intensity interval training.
The symposium concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the interest in measuring physiological variables when selecting juniors, conducting a medical examination to identify the suitability of the beginner to practice the sport of fencing, especially for the respiratory circulatory system, following the scientific and physiological foundations when planning programs for the number of fencers, taking into account the individual differences between fencers when implementing training programs, the need to take into account the physiological characteristics of the different ages by the trainers, building a basic base of aerobic capabilities to develop anaerobic capabilities.
