The Rapporteur of the Team Games Department in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Asst. Lect. Duaa Hussein Ali, held a workshop for undergraduate students titled (How to use rubber ropes).
Assistant Lecturer Duaa explained the concept of resistance bands, a type of sports tool known in English as (Resistance Bands), that resemble belts and are made from latex, a rubber-like material. There are two types: flat bands and resistance bands with handles. They can be used alongside other sports tools. She emphasized that their small size and portability make them ideal for use anywhere.
She categorized their colors into six, each color indicating a different level of resistance. The yellow band offers the lightest resistance, followed by green, then red, then blue, then black, and finally, the purple band, which provides the highest level of resistance.
As she previously explained, the benefits of resistance bands include their ability to increase body muscle mass due to their small size and light weight. In addition, they can be used at home or during break times at work due to their cheap price, and the ability to combine them with weights for better results is one of the strengths of resistance bands, as they are considered less dangerous than using weights, especially for beginners.
She has highlighted the best resistance band exercises, which include the fly, push-ups, chest press, bench press, back exercises, shoulder exercises, bicep curls, cable curls, triceps exercises, triceps extension exercises, front squats, lateral hip abductions, side stepping, overhead squats, and abdominal exercises.
