The head of the Team Games, prof. Nihad Muhammad Alwan and the two teachers in the individual games branch, prof. Muna Talib and prof. Israa Fouad, a held scientific workshop for undergraduate students entitled (Research additions within the latest developments in scientific research methods in physical education and sports sciences).
They explained the concept of the research gap that it is the research field that previous studies did not adequately cover, which made the information about it limited to a certain degree, so the scientific researcher or scientist who has the necessary capabilities for research, undertakes to study it and fill this gap with his scientific field, as the scientific addition shows the originality of the study. Scientific research and the extent of its value and importance in the field of scientific research.
They also highlighted the difference between the gap and the addition through the following features, as the gap is subject to study, unlike the addition, which constitutes a scientific addition to the scientific specialization to which the research belongs. Likewise, the gap and the addition belong to the scientific specialization to which the researcher belongs so that he can reach sound and useful results.
They referred to scholars’ classifications of scientific research methods into three to seven types, starting with the historical, descriptive, experimental, philosophical, predictive, creative, and social method, in addition to classifying it into its criteria according to the nature of the scientific method represented by the theoretical and applied method, and according to the nature of the phenomenon.
This workshop achieves the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal: quality education.
