The teacher at the Single Games Branch in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Mawaheb Hameed Al-Jubouri, gave a qualitative lecture to undergraduate students, entitled (Learning during sleep).

Al-Jubouri showed the effectiveness of sleep in the process of learning and acquiring new knowledge, especially when it comes to learning, where it is called learning sleep as an extension of its long history since (1914), according to the study of the German scientist Rosa Heine, which showed the beneficial effects of sleep on memory and learning as it helps to improve the ability to retrieve information compared to learning during the day.

She also showed the methods of sleep represented by REM sleep and non-REM sleep, where light REM sleep helps to improve behavioral performance, unlike deep non-REM sleep, which leads to weakness in learning performance when waking up.

Dr. stated. Al-Jubouri explained the positive benefits of sleep on the learning process, including strengthening memory and consolidating the information that was acquired before sleep in the brain, in addition to renewing the brain’s energy to give it a greater ability to focus and pay attention to acquiring new information while awake.
