The official of the Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation Division, Dr. Baida Tariq Abdel Wahed, and the official of the Civil Defense Unit, Mr. Ammar Ali Kadhim, at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, hosted the official of the Civil Defense Directorate, Rusafa Sector, Brigadier General Mohsen Ali Jaafar, to hold a workshop for college members entitled ( How to deal with accidents and disasters).

Brigadier General Mohsen explained the concept of civil defense as a set of procedures and actions necessary to protect residents and public and private property from the dangers of fires, disasters, wars, and various accidents, relief the afflicted, ensure the safety of transportation and communications, and the workflow in public facilities, and protect the sources of national wealth in times of peace and in cases of war and emergencies.

The civil defense official mentioned the most important formations of their teams, which consist of a head, two deputies, and 8 members, which are (self-protection teams, first aid, maintaining security and order, firefighting and accident treatment, rescue and reconstruction, warning and communications, and shelters).

He also reviewed the types of fire extinguishers represented by water fire extinguishers, powder, carbon dioxide, halon evaporative liquids, and foam.

Brigadier General Mohsen announced the opening of (8) civil defense centers in Baghdad Governorate during the coming period.

He directed that all members should know the number designated for contacting the Civil Defense (115).

At the conclusion of the workshop, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Prof. Dr. Aseel Jalil Kati, awarded a letter of thanks and appreciation and the college’s shield to the civil defense official, Brigadier General Mohsen Ali Jaafar, for his efforts and cooperation with us in holding such an awareness workshop that serves the college and the community.

This workshop achieves the sustainable development goals represented by the seventeenth goal: establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.
