The rapporteur of the theoretical sciences branch, Dr. Sura Ahmed Saleh, and the lecturer, Asst. Lect.. Nour Ali Kazem, held an awareness course for undergraduate students entitled (The harms of drugs and their impact on the individual and society).

The course topics focused on introducing the student to the dangers and harms of drugs, because they are considered a dangerous and deadly scourge that has begun to spread recently.

 In all societies in an unprecedented way, it has become a danger that threatens these societies and warns of collapse, so we must know how to prevent it and avoid falling into the network of this scourge, explaining the causes of addiction and how to recognize the addicted person.

The session also concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is developing appropriate solutions to the economic problems of society, so that emptiness and unemployment are eliminated. Persons allowed to deal in narcotic substances for medical purposes must be identified, and rules and regulations must be established for them. A specialized committee must be formed from all official and popular bodies (health, Social, economic, jurists, thinkers, popular institutions such as professional and women’s clubs and associations, etc., in order to participate in uncovering the real causes of the problem, and developing solutions to it collectively so that it is addressed from its various aspects, while providing freedom of scientific research and developing scientific studies that address the problem from its perspective. Its social and psychological aspects, and providing all facilities and guarantees for the success of the committee’s work in carrying out its tasks, until the problem is finally eliminated from society. The various media focus on explaining the harms of drugs to the individual and society, whether health, social, or economic.

And working to fill the fatal vacuum that the youth sector suffers from, by unleashing public freedoms in the country, developing social and cultural programs worthy of developing youth awareness and opening their perceptions, and providing them with all opportunities for creativity through cultural, social, and sporting activities through institutions, associations, popular clubs, theaters, and others. .

This course achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal: quality education.
