The Lecturer in the Individual Games Branch at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Asst. Lect. Shahad Haitham Sheet, held a scientific symposium for undergraduate students entitled (Hormones controlling hunger and satiety).

Ms. Shahad explained the concept of hormones as a chemical substance secreted from the endocrine glands in very small quantities and transported by blood over certain distances to the target organ to affect its function. Hormones are secreted in both periodic and continuous capacities.

She referred to the types of hormones into two types: leptin, which is secreted by the body and plays an important role in regulating appetite and the feeling of fullness, and ghrelin, which is produced in the digestive tract, especially when the stomach is empty and due to not getting enough sleep.

This symposium achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal: quality education.
