The Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific symposium entitled (The Psychology of Calming Down and Its Role in Improving Performance), it was presented by the teacher in the Team Sports Branch, Prof. Dr. Suhad Qasim Al-Mousawi.

Dr. Al-Mousawi explained the concept of peaking tapering as the gradual, non-linear decrease in the training load over a period of time with the aim of reducing the physiological pressures of daily training in order to obtain the best athletic performance, in addition to its main goal of reducing the negative physiological and psychological effects resulting from continuous daily training, and working to get rid of accumulated fatigue. Which appears as a result of the increase in athletic effort exerted during the training season.

She added that its purposes include stabilizing the adaptation resulting from training throughout the training season, achieving overcompensation from a specific level to the level of completion of the work performed during the application of the training program, the athlete’s adaptation to performance as a result of training during the training season, the difference in the volume of work and the length of time from one coach to another work to reduce the physical, physiological pressures that affect the individual athlete.

She pointed out that the most important psychological effects associated with sedation are the connection between the physiological aspects and the individual’s psychological state and mood.

This scientific event is consistent with the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which relates to ensuring the provision of high-quality education and equal learning opportunities for all.
