The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, organized a workshop entitled (The Role of Physical Fitness in Air Weapons Shooting), which was presented by the instructor in the Individual Sports Branch, Asst. Lect.Dua’a Hussein Ali.

Ms. Dua’a explained the concept of Olympic shooting with air weapons as one of the precise sports that requires high concentration and accuracy, because it is considered an essential part of that sport, as shooters compete in different events using weapons that rely on compressed air in this sport, dividing weapon shooters into different categories according to the weapons they use, such as air rifles and air pistols, pointing to how juvenile positions are used in Olympic shooting with air weapons, between the standing position and the position standing on the knees, according to the difference in the distances at which the shooting is done and the targeted targets.

She added that there are reasons for physical fitness in Olympic air-soft shooting, including stability and balance, muscular control, focus and stability, endurance, proper breathing, self-control, improving impulsiveness and mental endurance, weight and balance, improving muscular fitness for the arms and back, and physical preparation for the long competitions.

She noted the types of physical exercises that contribute to improving physical fitness and serve the sport of Olympic air rifle shooting, the most important of which are muscular strength exercises, stability and balance, breathing and relaxation, aerobic and mental exercises, general fitness, core strength, balance and bends, stretching and flexibility, endurance and adaptation, and emotional capacity, recovery and relaxation. In the same time she showed the exercises used with assistive devices such as medicine balls, jump ropes, hand weights, water resistance, rubber rings, Swiss balls, and cardiovascular devices.

This scientific event is consistent with the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which relates to ensuring the provision of high-quality education and equal learning opportunities for all.
