The Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, organized a scientific symposium entitled (Creative Teaching for University Professors), it presented by the Head of the Team Sports Branch, Prof. Dr. Nihad Muhammad Alwan.
The head of the branch clarified the concept of creative teaching, which is an educational activity carried out by the teacher, following three basic steps: planning, implementation and evaluation. The aim is to bring a qualitative change in the learner’s behavior. She outlined the first creative educational methods that the teacher performs to present his/her lesson. The are: Creative preparation (planning), creative teaching methods (implementation), educational methods that stimulate creativity, creative classroom interaction, creative evaluation.
She added that among the most important goals of creative teaching are: making the student the focus of the educational process, developing students’ competencies in analysis and logical thinking, developing students’ abilities in analysis and logical thinking, nurturing and developing positive self-esteem among students, encouraging creativity and renewal of thought and style among students, developing thinking mechanisms in particular. Creative thinking, developing specific abilities expressed by interests and inclinations that satisfy the student’s personal needs and stimulate his creative energies and creative talents, developing personal traits and social behaviors that enhance the effectiveness of creative creation loaded with desirable human and cultural values.
She also showed the most important parties involved in achieving creativity: the teacher, the subject, and the learner.
The workshop is consistent with the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which stipulates ensuring the availability of quality education, which includes life-long learning opportunities for all.
