The Assistant Dean for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Aseel Jalil Kati’, participated as a referee in the Fifth West Asian Athletics Championships for men and women, at the Palm trunk Stadium in Basra Governorate, for four days, with the participation of (13) Arab countries: Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain, Iran, Lebanon, the Emirates, Jordan, Palestine, Yemen, Qatar, Syria.  Noting that the opening of the competitions was launched on the stadiums of the Sports City, which includes presenting special events for visual heritage, in addition to holding an artistic conference for the participating teams at the tournament to provide a comprehensive explanation of the competition regulations.

The tournament resulted to our country, Iraq, winning second place with (39) medals, including (9) gold, (13) silver, and (17) bronze.

For their part, the participants praised our country, Iraq, for their hospitality and reception, in addition to the technical and skillful performance they enjoyed.

This participation achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the fourth goal: quality education, and the seventeenth goal: establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.
