The Continuing Education Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, held a scientific workshop entitled (Psychological well-being and its impact on the sports field) presented by the members of the Individual Games Department, Lect. Dr. Raghdaa Fouad Mohammed and lect. Dr. Huda Eidan Mohammed.
The two lecturers explained the concept of psychological well-being as one of the most important variables in positive psychology, as it occupies a high position in human thought, and everyone seeks happiness as an important goal in life. It is used in the Arab environment with multiple meanings, such as psychological well-being, quality of psychological life, quality of psychological health, good condition, good psychological life, or psychological happiness, all of which are meanings related to psychological well-being, dividing its components into the mental and emotional component and psychological comfort.
They also explained the most important factors related to psychological well-being: happiness and age, happiness and gender (male, female), happiness and health, happiness and social relationships, happiness and free time, happiness and religiosity.
The workshop concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is the need to enhance interest in realising the importance of psychological well-being because it is one of the positive aspects of personality, as it increases the level of psychological health, and to emphasise conducting studies to determine the strength and weakness of the psychological well-being trait among students.
This scientific activity is in line with the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which relates to ensuring the provision of high-quality education and equal learning opportunities for all.
