The team sports department at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women – University of Baghdad is considered one of the vital branches aimed at developing both the collective and individual skills of students in various team sports. Team Sports Department
The Team Sports Department is one of the branches of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women. The department consists of 26 specialized faculty members who teach both the theoretical and practical aspects of team sports, including handball, basketball, volleyball, and futsal. The faculty members are responsible for teaching and training students in the technical and tactical aspects of team sports, as well as explaining, interpreting, and applying the rules of these games.
Practical Courses in the Team Sports Department
The practical courses taught across the four academic stages are as follows:
First Stage: Basketball and Futsal.
Second Stage: Basketball, Handball, and Volleyball.
Third Stage: Basketball, Handball, Volleyball, and Futsal.
Fourth Stage: Handball and Volleyball.

Objectives
1- To prepare physical education and sports science teachers, coaches, and referees who possess comprehensive knowledge and practical skills related to team sports.
2- To employ scientific methods in learning, teaching, and training.
3- To adopt the latest scientific and legal information for each sport, in line with the most recent updates and amendments to the rules, and to continuously integrate new developments that contribute to enhancing the theoretical and practical aspects of team sports education.
4- To provide a high-quality educational, psychological, and pedagogical environment for team sports courses by keeping up with advancements in modern educational and training curricula that utilize the latest technologies.
5- To organize workshops, training courses, and seminars on the latest developments in sports rules and regulations, in collaboration with the central federation of each sport.
6- To prepare and train sports teams in team sports to participate in inter-stage and inter-university competitions.
