The individual sports department at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls – University of Baghdad is considered one of the important branches aimed at developing personal skills and individual performance in various individual sports. This department focuses on providing specialized training in playing techniques, individual strategies, and scientific analysis of athletic performance. Through a comprehensive and integrated curriculum, the individual sports department seeks to enhance self-confidence and personal excellence among students, in addition to improving physical and skill capacities. Objectives, vision and messages of the individual games branch
The Individual Games Branch is one of the branches of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls. The branch consists of (28) female teachers specialized in teaching the subjects of the branch (24 teachers and 4 contract lecturers).
The four-stage curriculum includes the following:
A – The first stage (yard and field, artistic gymnastics, physical fitness, swimming).
B – The second stage (fencing, shooting, arena and field, artistic gymnastics).
C – The third stage (artistic gymnastics, rhythmic gymnastics, arena and field, racket games).
D – The fourth stage (rhythmic gymnastics, arena and field, racket games).
Vision
The individual games branch seeks excellence in physical, scientific and educational activity, by following the specifications and standards of applying total quality in order to create a conscious generation that bears its responsibility and is able to serve the community.

Objectives
Preparing and qualifying faculty members, researchers, specialists and experts in physical education and sports for the various stages of education.
Preparing and qualifying female graduates who possess physical, skill and social capabilities in the field of teaching, training and sports management.
Providing the necessary support and creating a spirit of cooperation and working to establish development and training courses, as well as seminars in order to advance the general sports reality.
Preparing a female cadre of mathematical trainers in individual games for all sports activities.
– Conducting research and scientific studies in various fields of sports sciences, physical education, environmental development, and developing curricula, study systems and programs in a manner commensurate with the overall quality and the ability to create and innovate, which contribute to community service.
Raising the professional, scientific and educational level of workers in the field of physical education and sports and introducing them to modern educational trends.
Providing scientific advice to governmental and private bodies in the fields of physical education and sports, and cooperating in studying problems and finding scientific solutions to achieve common goals that contribute to the development of the sports movement.
– Organizing sports, artistic and recreational festivals that are held inside and outside the college and supervising them in the field.
– Building bridges of cultural, scientific and sports communication with Iraqi, Arab and international universities in order to develop teaching, professional and student cadres in the field of physical education and sports.
– Working with all new patents to serve the practical side in a way that serves researchers in all specialties.
– Preparing supplies, equipment, stadiums and sports halls.
– Motivate and create champions at the college and university level and in local and international competitions.
Among other tasks of the Individual Games Branch, it seeks to achieve the following:
A / National Development:
1- Instilling the spirit of good citizenship in the student through good treatment and respect for others, developing honesty and preserving the environment.
2- Activating the role of the student in educating the family as a leader by working to instill love for the homeland and belonging and work for its upliftment and renaissance.
3- Educating the students and informing about the rights and duties of individuals in society according to the constitution and the role of laws in establishing stability in society and the need to abide by them .
4- Educating the students about the current public issues that the community suffers from and motivates them to participate in community activities and interact with them .
5 – Providing the student with a positive and realistic understanding of the political system of society and the need to participate in political decisions affecting the course of there lifes in there current environment.
B / cognitive development:
1 – Making the student the main axis and the main target of the educational process by drawing achievable educational methodological goals to ensure easy and fast learning for all students and at all levels of study .
2 – Providing all the requirements, tools and modern educational means to make it easy for student’s to access various cognitive skills during the theoretical lessons of the practical subject.
3 – Exploiting all available capabilities and alternatives to confront any thorny situation or obstructing the course of the educational process, and trying to contain these situations and overcome them successfully .
4 – Developing the ability to think critically and solve problems by developing the student’s perceptions of educational concepts and intellectual foundations and their social applications .
5 – Motivating the student to actively participate in practical lessons through guidance, facilitation, encouragement, and the use of all modern strategies that focus on increasing the student’s effectiveness with practical lessons .
C / social development:
1 – Building the personality of the students and forming them in all aspects, personal, physical and psychological, and achieving a balance between all these qualities .
2 – Helping the student to adapt in society through them acquisition of different skills, knowledge and attitudes that are appropriate to there environment and society .
3 – Instilling the spirit of cooperative voluntary work among the students and spreading awareness of its positive impact on the development of the college and society.
4 – Training the students on good behaviour, independence and sound rules of life .
5 – Increasing the students self-confidence and developing high morale in facing life’s requirements and difficulties .
Obstacles and challenges faced by the branch :
1 – Weak openness to competing colleges to gain experience, poor communication and openness to arab and international universities
2 – Poor capabilities in providing halls and stadiums for team games
3 – The lack of financial allocations negatively affected the assignment of professors to prepare textbooks.
4 – Weak openness to the labor market and updating curricula according to needs.
5 – Weak participation of the private sector and the labor market .

5- زيادة ثقة الطلاب بأنفسهم وتنمية الروح المعنوية العالية في مواجهة متطلبات الحياة وصعوباتها.
المعوقات والتحديات التي يواجهها الفرع :
1- ضعف الانفتاح على الكليات المنافسة لاكتساب الخبرة وضعف التواصل والانفتاح على الجامعات العربية والعالمية
2- ضعف الإمكانيات في توفير القاعات والملاعب للألعاب الجماعية
3- قلة التخصيصات المالية أثرت سلباً على تكليف الأساتذة بإعداد الكتب المدرسية.
4- ضعف الانفتاح على سوق العمل وتحديث المناهج حسب الاحتياجات.
5- ضعف مشاركة القطاع الخاص وسوق العمل.
