Unit of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance
The Unit of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance was established at the College of Physical Education and Sports Science for GirlsUniversity of Baghdad according to administrative order number 1/15 dated 8/1/2012.

Mission of the Unit
The mission of the Unit of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance is derived from the definition of counseling as a preventive, developmental, and therapeutic process that requires specialization, preparation, competence, and skill. This process is a branch of applied psychology. General guidance services and specific counseling services are conceptualized as one entity. The unit aims to provide a comprehensive support program to assist female students in adapting to the demands of university life, enriching their educational experiences, supporting their personal growth, and helping them understand themselves to enhance their awareness of their identity, characteristics, and abilities. This will enable them to better confront university challenges and provide guidance services in accordance with ethical standards in society.

The objectives of the unit include:

Create a positive change in the student’s behavior and work to create an appropriate atmosphere for Learning, Education, Development and attention to the student’s physical, mental and social personality, help the student to achieve herself and achieve compatibility on a personal, educational and professional level, and improve and develop the educational process through the relationship with parents, faculty and the local community.

Responsibilities of the Unit
The primary responsibilities of the guidance unit include activating ethical values in student behavior, enhancing the spirit of belonging to the department, college, and university, maintaining students’ academic status, diagnosing obstacles faced by students, overcoming these obstacles, fostering goodwill among students and faculty members, addressing behavioral cases encountered by students, informing students of their rights and responsibilities, and familiarizing them with student discipline regulations, penalties, withdrawal procedures, absenteeism, and permissible and impermissible behaviors within the college.
