The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abdul Maleh, took part in the first meeting of the Committee for Developing the National Strategy for the Advancement of Iraqi Sports.
The meeting, chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dr. Ahmed Al-Mubarraq, was held at the ministry’s headquarters. Distinguished academic and sports figures attended.
Discussions focused on the key pillars that will form the foundation of the national strategy. The meeting concluded with several recommendations, most notably the unification of efforts to ensure the strategy’s practical implementation, the formation of specialized subcommittees for each pillar, and the establishment of clear timelines for accomplishing the set objectives.
In his closing remarks, Minister Al-Mubarraq stressed the importance of promptly preparing the initial report on the strategy to be submitted to the Council of Ministers. He also affirmed the ministry’s commitment to providing all necessary resources to support the plan’s execution, aiming to restore Iraqi sports to its leading status locally and internationally.
