The head of the Individual Games Branch in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Abeer Dakhil Al-Salami, held a panel discussion entitled (Forgetfulness and low intelligence, the most important minerals that help in strengthening memory).
As Dr. explained, the concept of forgetting as the inability to remember some events and people, and some painful memories and situations, and among its causes are the phenomenon of inhibition, the phenomenon of unconsciousness, weakness of nerve schemes, referring to its types represented by transient forgetting, fugue forgetting, obstructive forgetting, forgetting with false attribution, suggestive forgetting, Forgetting prejudice, post-traumatic forgetfulness, adding that among the most important minerals and vitamins affecting intelligence are iodine, zinc, copper, magnesium, vitamin B12, vitamin E, and vitamin D3.
The panel discussion concluded with a set of recommendations, including paying attention to physical activity because it works to increase blood flow to the entire body, which maintains the strength of memory and helps in treatment methods, maintaining mental health through activities that stimulate the mind, social involvement, as social interaction contributes to reducing depression and stress, both of which contribute to memory loss. Therefore, it is necessary to look for opportunities for family and friends gatherings, to work on organizing in all aspects, as it helps not to forget, to reduce the sources of distraction, as focusing on more than one thing at the same time leads to forgetfulness, to enjoy a good sleep, as sleep plays an important role in Memory consolidation.
