A teacher in the Individual Games Branch in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Prof. Dr. Ghosoun Natiq Al-Wadi, held a scientific symposium for undergraduate students entitled (Physiological responses to women and sports activity).
The Dr. showed the valley concept of physical activity, according to the World Health Organization, is any movement of the body produced by skeletal muscles and requires energy consumption, and also refers to all body movements, especially during leisure time or when moving to and from a place or within the framework of an individual’s work. Moderate and intense physical activity contributes to improve health.
She referred to the most important factors influencing physiological responses, including chronological age, hormonal changes (menstrual cycle), metabolic rate, motor ability (muscular strength, stamina, coordination and motor flexibility), and cardiorespiratory fitness.
The symposium concluded with a set of recommendations that physical activity should be part of the daily routine (walking, swimming, and other moderate-intensity activities, following a healthy diet, practicing moderate and high-intensity aerobic exercises to improve cardiorespiratory fitness, practicing resistance exercises to enhance the strength of large muscle groups in the trunk and limbs And merging the two types together within 45-60 minutes, avoiding plastic surgery to lose weight and replacing it with appropriate physical exercises and reducing bad habits (lack of movement, staying up late, smoking…..etc.)
