The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sport Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, under the patronage of its Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, and the supervision of its official, Asst. Lect. Safia Ihsan Kamel hosted the legal advisor, Dr. Saleh Najm Al-Maliki, to conduct a workshop for the college staff titled (Public Employment Laws and State Employee Discipline).

Dr. Al-Maliki explained the distinction between the concepts of public employment and the employee. He clarified that public employment is a national duty and a societal service aimed at achieving public interest and serving citizens within the framework of existing laws. Meanwhile, an employee is an individual assigned to a position within a ministry or institution to fulfill their duties, which include adhering to working hours, maintaining regular attendance, performing duties with honesty and responsibility, respecting superiors and interacting with them politely, following their directives, treating citizens with respect and facilitating their transactions, safeguarding public funds, and maintaining the confidentiality of information and documents accessed due to their position.

He also highlighted key legal penalties outlined in the State Employee Law, such as warnings, reprimands, notices, salary deductions, and demotions, emphasizing the prohibition of holding two positions simultaneously to ensure integrity and transparency.

At the conclusion, the College Dean, Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, presented Dr. Saleh Al-Maliki with a certificate of appreciation as a token of gratitude for his efforts in delivering awareness workshops that promote legal culture. She wished him continued success in serving Iraq.

This workshop contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 on Quality Education and Goal 17 on Partnerships for the Goals.
