The Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit in the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls organized the University of Baghdad under the auspices of its Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abdel Maleh and under the supervision of the Unit Officer, Prof. Dr. Huda Abdel Samie, in cooperation and coordination with the Department of Youth Culture and Arts / Department of Psychological and Social Rehabilitation to Combat Extremism in the Ministry of Youth and Sports and with the International Organization for Human Rights / Baghdad Office, the scientific symposium tagged (social networking sites and electronic extortion It is worth noting that the management of the symposium was chaired by Dr. Hadeel Saadi from the College of Arts / Al-Mustansiriya University, while the symposium axes were delivered by each of the lecturers, Dr. Muhammad Musa Jaber / Legal Adviser to the Ministry of Education / General Directorate of Administrative Affairs and Dr. Safad Hussam Al-Shammari from the College of Information, University of Baghdad and Dr. Mervat Taher from the College of Arts, Al-Mustansiriya University.
The symposium discussed three main axes: the first is entitled (Penal Confrontation of Electronic Extortion Crimes in Iraqi Law) by Dr. Muhammad Musa, describing extortion as one of the multiple forms of electronic crimes that are depending on the purpose or the person of the victim, explaining the position of the Iraqi legislator on combating information technology crimes Which stipulates that the blackmailer be punished with imprisonment and a fine of not less than two million dinars and not more than four million for anyone who threatens another using computers and the information network, and the second is entitled (Modern manifestations of the crime of electronic extortion) by Dr. Safad Al-Shammari, indicating the dangers of development in electronic extortion curricula What increases those risks are the traditional methods by which these crimes are addressed, the need for Iraqi legislation to amend its articles related to cybercrime in general, noting its modern manifestations represented by modern applications, chip rotation, hacking of the collective account, access to cloud storage, community digital security , personal digital awareness, and the third titled (the academic vision of electronic extortion crimes) by Dr. Mervat Taher, explaining electronic extortion that it is when a person or gang threatens someone to publish some scandalous pictures or videos for him, and its types in terms of being a criminal phenomenon represented in the victim is a juvenile, the victim is a female, the victim is a man, the victim Legal person.
At the end of the symposium, Dr. Hadeel Saadi recommended the necessity of defining age groups to follow social networking sites, stressing that the students should take care and caution when dealing with information networks and use it for scientific purposes only to benefit from it.
