The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Fatima Abdel Maleh, with the participation of a group of teachers of the Scientific Committee for the Science of Sports Training, each of Prof. Dr. Israa Fouad and Prof. Dr. Dr. Suhad Qassem, Prof. Liqaa Abdullah, Prof. Dr. Nada Muhammad Amin, Prof. Dr. Intithar Jumaa, Prof. Dr. Lisa Rustom, and Prof. Dr. Zainab Qahtan, a training course for postgraduate and undergraduate students entitled (Applications) Modern in the science of sports training).
The members of the committee focused on discussing several modern axes related to the science of training, the most important of which is how to complete exercise successfully and safely, by following some of the following preventive measures: appropriate warm-up, appropriate clothing, wind estimation, prevention of cold bite, prevention of hypothermia after exercise, emphasizing on the need to drink plenty of fluids in order to keep the body hydrated, as the high temperature reduces the appetite for food, and at the same time emphasize not to lose weight, avoid training during high temperatures, and do not overuse ice.
They also mentioned the most common thermal injuries during physical exertion: heat cramp, heat syncope, and heat exhaustion.
The course concluded with a set of recommendations, the most important of which is reducing the training period during hot weather, increasing the rest period, training gradually, drinking sufficient amounts of fluids, adapting to perform in hot weather, training and thermoregulating the body.
