The Rehabilitation, Employment, and Follow-up Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, in cooperation with the Industrial Advisory Council, organized a specialized workshop titled: “Acquainting Graduating Students with Available Job Opportunities and Required Skills for Each Specialization.” The session was presented by Mr. Ahmed Salem Aidan, an entrepreneur specializing in graduate training and employment.

The workshop was held under the patronage and presence of the Dean of the College, Professor Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, and under the supervision and follow-up of the unit head, Lecturer Safiya Ihsan Kamil, with active participation from final-year girls and recent graduates.

The workshop sought to achieve a set of strategic objectives serving the professional careers of the girls, most notably: analyzing the labor market by reviewing the map of available job vacancies in both the public and private sectors, as well as sports investment fields. It also focused on highlighting the “soft and technical” skills currently required by employers, which may extend beyond traditional academic curricula, and providing direct advice on how to choose a career path that suits the specific specialization of each female graduate, such as coaching, teaching, sports management, or rehabilitation and injuries.

Furthermore, the workshop included interactive themes focused on building a curriculum vitae (CV) and crafting a personal profile that highlights athletic strengths and leadership skills. It also emphasized fostering a culture of commitment and professionalism in the workplace and clarifying how to link educational outcomes with actual market needs through joint cooperation.

During the workshop, Dr. Fatima affirmed that the college pays great attention to the post-graduation stage, noting that the goal is not only to grant a university degree but to ensure the readiness of the female graduate to enter professional competition with high efficiency. This contributes to providing sports institutions with qualified female personnel capable of innovation and leadership.

At the conclusion of the workshop, a discussion session was opened for the girls to answer their inquiries regarding how to start private projects or apply for jobs in clubs, health institutions, and educational facilities. This workshop achieves the Fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education) by introducing employment fields and required skills, the Eighth Goal (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and the Seventeenth Goal (Partnerships for the Goals).
