The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls / University of Baghdad hosted the discussion of the Master’s thesis entitled (“The Effect of Blending Motor Control and Mobility Exercises on Certain Physical and Physiological Variables and the Accuracy of Forehand and Backhand Strokes for Table Tennis Players Under 13 Years Old”), by the researcher (Widad Muhammad Dawood).

The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Zaidoun Jawad Muhammad from the University of Baghdad as Chairman, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hussein Ali Hussein from Mustansiriyah University as an external member, Assist. Prof. Dr. Nazik Subhi Matar as a member, and Prof. Dr. Abeer Dakhil Hatim as a member and supervisor.

The study aimed to prepare exercises using motor control exercises (tempo) and mobility exercises (mobility), and to identify the effect of their integration on certain physical and physiological variables and the accuracy of forehand and backhand stroke skills among table tennis players under 13 years old affiliated with the National Center for Gifted Care in Table Tennis (Ministry of Youth and Sports) in Baghdad, and to apply the experiment in the National Center for Sports Talent.

The results showed that the integration between motor control exercises (tempo) and mobility exercises (mobility) had a positive effect and an effective role in developing physical characteristics (motor response speed, arm movement speed, coordination, agility, and flexibility). It also contributed to improving physiological variables (heart rate, respiration rate at rest and during exertion, and physical fitness index), in addition to its role in developing the accuracy of forehand and backhand strokes, as the development of physical variables helped in developing the accuracy of these two skills. The experimental group surpassed the control group in all the aforementioned variables.

The study recommends the necessity of using the integration between motor control exercises (tempo) and mobility exercises (mobility) in table tennis training programs, with an emphasis on paying attention to physical variables and working to develop them due to their importance in improving the accuracy of forehand and backhand strokes, starting the development of motor coordination at an early age for table tennis players, and conducting similar studies on different age groups and remaining skills in table tennis.

This discussion achieves one of the Sustainable Development Goals represented by Goal 4: Quality Education.
