Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women – University of Baghdad, participated in the fourth meeting of the Committee for Developing the National Strategy for Iraqi Sports (2026–2036). The meeting was held on Tuesday, August 26, under the chairmanship of Dr. Hassan Al-Hasnawi, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, and hosted by Advisor Khalid Kabyan.

The discussions focused on the strategy’s key pillars, including developing sports infrastructure, enhancing Iraq’s international sports standing, diversifying funding sources, updating legislation, improving sports media, and advancing human resource development.

The committee emphasised the importance of establishing a unified vision promoting a sports participation culture, rejecting discrimination, and strengthening community peace. It also highlighted the need to invest in sports tourism, adopt governance principles, and build international relations to prepare advanced athletes to achieve the highest levels of global competition.
