The Master’s thesis entitled (“The Effect of an Educational Curriculum Based on Interactive Smart Learning on Certain Motor Abilities and the Performance of Close and Medium Shooting Skills in Netball for Female Players Aged 13-15 Years”), presented by the researcher (Doaa Abdul-Wahab Ghazi), was discussed at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls / University of Baghdad.
The examination committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Lama Samir Hamoudi from the University of Baghdad as Chairman, Prof. Dr. Othman Adnan Abdul-Samad from the University of Mosul as an external member, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Saja Shukr Yas as a member, and Prof. Dr. Mawahib Hameed Numan as a member and supervisor.
The study aimed to prepare an educational curriculum based on interactive smart learning targeting certain motor abilities and the performance of close (short and medium) guided shooting skills in netball, and to identify its effect on developing those motor abilities and improving shooting skill performance among female players aged (13-15) years belonging to the (Al-Mansour and Al-Saydiya) Specialized Centers of the Iraqi National Federation in Baghdad/Karkh.
The results showed statistically significant differences between the pre-tests and post-tests in favor of the post-tests for both the experimental and control groups. They also revealed the superiority of the experimental group, which applied the curriculum based on interactive smart learning, over the control group, which followed the traditional curriculum. The use of technological devices and techniques, correction of skill errors, visual observation, repetition, self-correction, feedback, and competition among female players contributed to raising their mental and cognitive levels. Additionally, increasing repetitions, identifying incorrect paths, and modifying them aided in skill mastery and stability, which positively reflected on the post-test results in favor of the experimental group.
The study recommends the necessity of paying attention to the initial learning of shooting skills for novice female players, with a focus on presenting illustrative models, repetition, and providing immediate feedback on errors to enable self-correction. It also recommends adopting modern technologies and electronic devices after skill execution, reinforcing preferred skills among players alongside providing moral support and continuous encouragement, utilizing the prepared curriculum and generalizing its results to the training centers affiliated with the federation, as well as conducting further research on different centers and governorates using modern methods and technologies.
This discussion achieves one of the Sustainable Development Goals, represented by Goal 4 (Quality Education), through its adoption of an innovative educational curriculum based on interactive smart learning, thereby enhancing the quality of education and providing equal lifelong learning opportunities.
