A doctoral thesis entitled (The effect of exercises according to Laban’s classification to improve some kinematic variables and basic skills of squash players) by the researcher (Nawras Mahmoud Saba’) was discussed at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad.
The discussion committee consisted of Prof. Dr. Bushra Kazem Abdel Reda as a chairman, Prof. Dr. Intisar Awaid Ali as a supervisor, Prof. Dr. Mazen Hadi Kazar from the University of Babylon, Prof. Dr. Zeina Abdel Salam, Asst. Prof. Dr. Abeer Dakhel Hatem, and Asst. Prof. Dr. Iman Sabih Hussein as members.
The study aimed to prepare special exercises according to the Laban classification to improve some kinematic variables and essential skills for junior squash players and to identify the effect of these exercises according to the Laban classification to improve the variables and crucial skills for junior squash players aged (13-15) years in the Special Squash Academy affiliated with the Central Iraqi Federation. Where Laban’s classification was clarified as a description of fluid movement, they also analyzed each aspect into its constituent axes. One of the goals of movement education is spatial and body awareness, as well as the effort made for the movement relationship.
The study concluded the suitability of Laban’s dimensions for the movement of the kinematic variables related to basic skills due to the requirements of the game to such dimensions when learning and training, as well as its suitability for the movement of basic skills due to the requirements of the game (the small field area, the presence of the opponent, the law) through the awareness as mentioned earlier.
The researcher also recommended emphasizing the preparation and design of exercises according to Laban’s classification of aspects and dimensions of movement by relying on the motor description because of its positive impact on the various kinematic variables, the necessity of applying exercises that target the kinematic variables and developing them because of their influential role and basis in learning the skill performance of various sports, emphasizing learning for these age groups according to scientific foundations because they represent a linking stage between the initial stages of learning and the advanced stages.
This event is consistent with the fourth goal of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which aims for quality education.
