The Women Empowerment Unit and the Volunteer Work Committee at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, under the patronage of its Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, in cooperation and coordination with the Iraqi Cultural Media Center, Majid Al-Saeed, and its members, organised a voluntary campaign to plant several evergreen rose seedlings.
The Dean of the College, heads of scientific branches, teachers, and centre members planted roses in the college gardens.
For her part, the Dean of the College, Dr Fatima, explained that the goal of the planting campaigns that are being held is not only with the media centre today, but a planting campaign was held a short time ago in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the municipalities of Adhamiyah and Al-Khadhra, and the Baghdad Municipality, as the goal of these campaigns is to increase environmental awareness, in addition to contributing to reducing the negative effects of climate change and showing the college in the best appearance and beauty to be more environmentally friendly, in addition to instilling a spirit of initiative among everyone in volunteer work and enhancing their belonging to our mother university. This campaign achieves one of the sustainable development goals represented by the thirteenth goal of climate action and the seventeenth goal of establishing partnerships to achieve the goals.
