The College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, under the patronage of its Dean, Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh, hosted the Iraqi Universities Badminton Championship (male and female students) 2024, which was organised by the Student Activities Department at the University of Baghdad in cooperation with the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Authority at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and the Iraqi University Sports Federation.
On the sidelines of the championship, whose activities will start tomorrow, the Technical Committee held its meeting today, headed by the Director of the Student Activities Department, Assist. Prof. Dr Ali Sadiq Dhiyab and a member of the University Sports Federation, Prof. Dr Ali Youssef, to discuss the most important organisational and logistical matters for the smooth running of the championship activities, explaining to the participants from 70 public and private universities the importance of the championship for all sports specialists in Iraq, in addition to the fact that this championship works to discover qualified young talents to participate in Arab and international championships.
During their meeting, the committee members also expected that the University of Baghdad would win first place in the championship.
For their part, the Dean of the College and its esteemed Council expressed their readiness to open horizons of cooperation and scientific and sports exchange with all relevant parties in a way that serves our professional and practical reality to achieve a tangible benefit to meet the needs of the market and society, in addition to enhancing our collective capabilities to achieve a set of sustainable development goals represented by the third goal, good health and well-being, the fourth goal, good education, and the seventeenth goal, forming partnerships to achieve the goals.
