The Volunteer Awareness Committee at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, under the patronage of Dean Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Malih and the supervision of Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs, Assistant Prof. Dr. Naima Zidan Khalaf, organised a large-scale tree-planting campaign in collaboration with the Student Activities and Agricultural Unit and the Scout Team.
Under the slogan (Plant a Seedling, Harvest a Clean Environment), this initiative aligns with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research’s directives to expand green spaces in educational institutions. The campaign also coincided with National Tree Planting Day.
The event witnessed active participation from the college dean, faculty members, and students, planting over 100 seedlings, including jasmine and Damask roses. This effort aimed to enhance environmental awareness, increase green spaces, and beautify the college premises.
The initiative seeks to instil a sense of environmental responsibility among students and contribute to improving the quality of the university environment. It aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13: Climate Action. Through such efforts, the college aspires to be a model of environmental commitment and social responsibility.
