The Career Development, Employment, and Follow-Up Unit, in collaboration with the Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance Unit at the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Girls, University of Baghdad, under the patronage of Dean Prof. Dr. Fatima Abd Maleh and the supervision of Prof. Dr. Huda Abdul Samee and Asst. Lect. Safia Ihsan hosted the Mumayazoon Foundation for People with Determination (Down Syndrome) and the “Al-Iraqiya Huna” team for an extensive dialogue session titled “No to Bullying, No to Abuse.”
The session was opened by Ms. Shaimaa Behzad, head of the “Al-Iraqiya Huna” platform, who delivered an inspiring talk about the success stories and struggles of mothers and their children in the face of bullying and societal abuse. She highlighted how these stories transformed into powerful motivations for further progress and achievements. Notable among the stories shared were those of wrestling athlete Tayba Fahim, journalist Mr. Haider Al-Baseer, Ms. Janan Akram—founder of the “Tanaffas” project—as well as Abdul Samad, a student at the Institute of Fine Arts, in addition to many other inspiring tales.
The event also featured the opening of a special exhibition showcasing the talents of individuals with Down syndrome. The exhibition included a wide range of creative products such as innovative engineering models, handmade crafts like accessories, artworks, and various drawings—demonstrating their unique talents and commendable creativity.
During the session, the college dean highlighted how society tends to be critical—particularly toward successful women in leadership roles—and emphasized the growing contributions of women across various fields, including law, medicine, engineering, and academia.
At the session’s close, attendees expressed deep admiration for all participants’ work and talents, reaffirming their full support in combating bullying and abuse. They stressed the importance of promoting respect and equality for everyone.
This event contributes to achieving one of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals—Goal 10: Reducing Inequality, and Goal 17: Partnerships for the Goals.
