The Dean of the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women at the University of Baghdad, Professor Dr. Fatima Abd Malih, along with the Associate Dean for Scientific and Student Affairs, Professor Dr. Suhad Haseeb, and the Head of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Huda Shamil, welcomed the external examiner, Professor Dr. Heba Ibrahim Al-Ashqar from Sultan Qaboos University.
The purpose of this academic visit was to evaluate and enhance the outcomes of the college’s doctoral programs by reviewing the academic program descriptions and ensuring their alignment with internationally recognized standards.
During her review of the doctoral curricula, Dr. Al-Ashqar emphasized the importance of selecting highly competent faculty members with strong academic reputations and internationally recognized research achievements, reflected in high citation rates and outstanding performance evaluations.
It is noteworthy that the role of the external examiner is considered vital in global higher education systems, as it involves the assessment of academic programs and their outputs at various levels.
This initiative contributes to the exchange of academic expertise and the strengthening of international collaboration between universities, supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
