Assistant Lecturer Safia Ihsan Kamil, from the College of Physical Education and Sports Sciences for Women – University of Baghdad, participated in a training program organized by the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports, and Residency under the theme (Strategy for Women’s Leadership Development).

Her contribution featured a lecture on physical fitness, in which she highlighted its concept and importance, explained the difference between health and wellness, and discussed practices that promote physical and mental well-being. She also outlined the various types of fitness—general health-related and those specific to sports and professional fields—while emphasizing the benefits of physical activity for individuals and society.

The lecture further focused on the positive impact of fitness in workplace environments, such as enhancing productivity, reducing stress, and preventing common office-related health issues, including back pain, obesity, and sedentary disorders.

This participation reflects the college’s commitment to advancing the Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), and Goal 4 (Quality Education), by fostering health awareness, promoting active lifestyles, empowering women, and connecting academic expertise with community service.

Through such efforts, the college reaffirms its dedication to building a healthy, productive society and contributing to developing women’s leadership capacities in Iraq.
